Guild members enjoyed a fabulous workshop conducted by Rosemary Makhan.
Participants had a choice between 2 of the lovely blocks in her “ Woodland Creatures” collector series.

Rosemary not only explained in detail the freezer paper technique we would be using but demonstrated up close, exactly how to manipulate our fabrics to achieve the best results. She shared with us her method of getting those graceful, narrow stems and vines.
Throughout the day, Rosemary offered help and tips with our colour choices, how to handle the various challenges of appliquéing very small intricate shapes, thread choices, stitching and steps for proper finishing.
By the end of the day we were armed with the tools we would need to successfully complete our blocks at home…….and as if we were not inspired enough yet, Ruth M brought her beautifully completed Rose Sampler Supreme quilt (a Rosemary Makhan pattern) for us to see…..gorgeous isn’t it?
Looks like we will likely be seeing a lot more appliqué during our “Show & Tell” segment at future guild meetings.
