After we saw all these wonderful quilts, we were treated to a trunk show by Lorna McMahon.
She has a wonderful modern style, focusing mostly on animals. They are all pieced using squares, rectangles and triangles; no paper piecing and no appliqué. She says she was inspired quite a bit by the designer Charlie Harper. She publishes patterns for quite a few of her designs. And, here’s the amazing thing, she’s only been quilting for 4 years. She’s also hosted a couple of sew alongs on her blog, for which she gives free patterns.
Alligators

Elephant Parade

Mod Bear Paw, the free sew along pattern found here.

Hamsters

Some very guilty looking cats.

Squirrels

And if all that quilty goodness wasn’t enough, there was show and tell.
Cynthia shared her Foxes.

Jacqui shared one of her UFO finishes.

Toni showed her Thorgie….. part Thor the mythological character and part Corgi dog.

Kim brought her bag, made from the selvages she received in her box from a scrap challenge held a couple of years ago.

There was much more to see in this meeting. The rest of the photos can be found in the Google Photo album here.
