NEXT MEETING – Thursday, October 13, 2011

The next meeting of the London Friendship Quilt Guild will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at St. George’s Presbyterian Church. Our guest speaker will be Kathy Wylie and her lecture will be entitled “Beauty is all Around”. Check out Kathy’s web site here.

On Friday, October 14, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Kathy will be teaching a workshop on her Sewflakes method of applique. Remember the fun we used to have making paper snowflakes in elementary school? Now you can do the same and quilt your snowflakes! Here is the link for one of her classes and at the top right of the page is a supply list to give you an idea what you’d need for the class. There are a few spaces left in the class ($35.00 for members; $45.00 for non-members of the guild).

As a new feature this year, we have invited various vendors to be at some of our meetings. This month we will have Quilts and Calicos of Exeter, ON. Bring your pennies along to shop til you drop!

The Mystery block of the Month has arrived. If you have signed up for this program, you can pick up your first installment of the instructions at the meeting.

We will also be participating in the annual placemats for Meals on Wheels. Bring your placemats in to any meeting. The last call for this is the December meeting.

Pillowcases and Kid’s quilts will be accepted at each meeting and there are usually kits or quilts to finish available from Penny and Edith.

Notion of the Month is apples for the Food Bank.

Don’t forget show and tell and library books, money to sign up for workshops. Pam Denysk from MadAboutPatchwork will be doing a workshop on Saturday, November 12th (Through the Trees and Quartered Squares) and Quilt til you Wilt is on Saturday, November 19th. Be sure to remember your cheque book to secure your spot.
