Gerald Fagan will be presenting a short talk on the upcoming Bach Festival Quilt show which will be held in Exeter in April (see upcoming Quilt shows on side bar of this blog).  We will also have several of our own executive members showing several of their quilts spanning their quilting years.

There is no vendor of the month at this meeting as it is our annual RUMMAGE SALE!!! Please bring along any unwanted fabrics, notions, patterns, tools, books, etc. etc. Make sure the item is priced and check at the end of the meeting to take home any unsold items.  The profits from this sale go to our ongoing Charity Quilts program.
Items to remember:
  • Mystery swap participants – pink & light nine patches
  • Library books
  • money for tickets and quilt magazines
  • quilt magazines you’d like to get rid of  for the library table (sold for 25c for new library books)
  • sign up for Workshops -Skills building workshop on March 16th and Ruth Kennedy’s workshop Apr. 20th
  • money and items for the rummage sale
  • Notion of the month – wear something green and you will get double tickets if you wear a shamrock 🙂
  • Banquet tickets for June will also be available for sale – $45.00.  The banquet will be held at Windemere Manor this year.

Don’t forget to sign up for the workshop for Saturday, March 16th.  Many members suggested learning some basics and the program committee has been working hard on organizing a workshop to learn paper piecing, quilt as you go, organic (modern) quilting using your walking foot and binding.  Take advantage of this opportunity to learn a new skill or possibly a new way of doing something. Members signed up for this workshop, please bring along your walking foot if you have one.

Advance notice:  Ruth Kennedy will be doing a workshop called Spring Social on April 20th, 2013.   Here is a photo of the sample:

Supply list is available at the sign up table so you can choose your own colours to make this interesting wall hanging.

Poster for the Heritage Quilt Exhibit:

Here is an interesting news item about quilts made by Canadian women and sent to war torn England and now on display at a show.  Click here to view the story and see pictures of some of the quilts.
