May 10, 2018 meeting: Annual General Meeting and other important items.

Our annual general meeting is this Thursday May 10, 2018 at the church.  Therefore, we won’t have a vendor of the month or a speaker…but there will be treats and don’t forget to bring your favourite mug/tea cup as tea will be served.  There will be reports from your current executive and elections for next years’ executive. We are currently looking for individuals to fill the following vacant positions:  Secretary, Library,  Blog Editor and Vice President.  Please contact Cindy Fisher if you would like to take on one of these positions.  This is an excellent opportunity for you to support the guild.

Don’t forget to bring:

  • Your  Quilt for all seasons challenge.  There will be a prize for the favourite.
  •  Name tag
  • Chatelaine
  • Notion of the month: a package of veggie or flower seeds to be donated to Community Gardens.

Other Important Items:

  • Our May 12th ‘sew in’ day at the church is our opportunity to gather together to make items for sale in our Members Boutique at our quilt show.  Don’t forget to bring your lunch
  • Our annual banquet will be held at Highland Golf and  Country Club.  Cost is $42.00.  Cocktails at 6PM (cash bar) and BBQ dinner at 7PM.  Please note that as this is at a golf club and  no denim or hats are to be worn on the premises.
  • Home County Festival:  July 21 & 22 from 12pm to 6pm    We will need volunteers for both days.  Shifts will be 3 hours and you will also have a great opportunity to share your craft with others and visit the Festival after/before your shift.  There will be a sign up sheet at the May meeting.
  • Please note that blocks for the comfort quilts are getting low.  Perhaps they will be the notion of the month for September which will give you the summer to make some blocks.  They are light blue and dark blue and should be 9 1/2″ square
  • We’re going to try something new this summer.  If you want to take a book out of the library at our May meeting, it won’t be due back util September.  This will give you the summer to enjoy your book.

  • if you want to check out the listing of books in the library there’s a link in the side bar (and below)  that will take you to an excel worksheet listing all the books currently available.
  • There is also a link added to the the sidebar called “How to make a hanging sleeve” to help you prepare your quilt for the 2018 quilt show.
  • Stitch-it Central is moving to London in June and is interested in working with a couple different people to help fill their class schedule at  their new location in LondonThey would consider teachers for many different crafts and specialties, but would be mostly interested in embroidery and quilting.  If you are interested contact Cindy at:  Stitch-it Central, (519)-303-1563 or email  sales@stitchitcentral.ca
