First meeting of the 2014-2015 LFQG Year

Welcome back  to the beginning of our 2014-15 LFQG season.  The executive has had their first meeting and it sounds like there are many exciting and interesting things planned for the upcoming year.  Our first meeting is
Thursday, September 11, 2014
@ 7.00PM

St. George’s Presbyterian Church,
1475 Dundas St., London, ON
(just east of Hale St on the south side of Dundas)

The following is from our Program Coordinator, Lorna:

The program committee has chosen to focus on Canada as a theme for the 2014-2015 year. Our visit to Fanshawe Pioneer Village in June reminded us of our rich quilting heritage, and Quilt Canada in St Catharines gave us a glimpse into how talented Canadian quilters today continue to expand and broaden the boundaries of this traditional art form.
We will use this year as an opportunity to introduce some of the very accomplished quilters in our area and to proudly show case the vast and varied aspects of our country. To this end, all our speakers and workshop instructors this year are Canadian. As well, the program committee has designed a Canadiana Mystery Row Quilt which we will make available to you as a block of the month. This quilt is made up of various blocks each of which represents a different facet of our country. We are very excited about this undertaking and hope you will consider participating. Details will be presented at our first meeting.
Our year will wrap up at the June banquet where we hope to introduce a speaker who has played a significant role in promoting both quilting and Canadian culture and heritage.
In September we look forward to seeing the array of quilted creations made from the swatches of Canadian themed fabric distributed to bus trip participants and to welcome our first guest speaker, Susan Clark of the Oxford Quilters’ Guild. Hope to see you there proudly displaying the notion of the month, a maple leaf.
Lorna M.-Program Coordinator

“What Kind of Creative Are You?” is the topic of the talk that Susan Clark (our speaker for the evening) will be presenting to us.  It should be a very interesting talk!
It was decided, because of how busy this meeting will be, there will not be a vendor this month.
