Last Thursday’s Meeting turned out to be a great one for our Community Outreach Program. Guild members were very generous in donating quilting supplies to be sold and then in buying “quilty stuff'” that that others had brought in. The total amount raised was $431.00. To read our Community Outreach Coordinator Edith’s reaction to this, check out the Feb/March Newsletter on the right sidebar.

Marilyn Michelin, Conference Coordinator of Quilt Canada 2014, spoke to us about the upcoming (June 11-14) Quilt Show being held in St Catharines.
Marilyn told us about the National Juried Show, the Trend Tex Challenge, the Merchant’s Mall and other events affiliated with the Show. She also told us about the “wine bags” that are being given to delegates at the show. She is in need of more bags (remember our “leaf bowls”). To find the pattern for the wine bags click here. Any bags made by LFQG members can be brought to our March meeting and we will forward them to Marilyn.
Our Guild President, Micki A., spoke about the upcoming quilting year (2014-15) at the meeting . She sent the following to update the situation regarding the executive for next year:
At our guild meeting in February, I mentioned that there were several positions open on executive for next year – membership, library and Vice President. Being on the executive is a wonderful opportunity to be involved in the decision making of the guild. Each committee chair has their own responsibilities but as a group we discuss the best options for the guild. I was so pleased when three members of our guild came forward at the meeting to fill the positions of membership and library. I will continue for one more year as President but it would be nice to have a Vice President as, this year, I have worked alone.

Guild Challenge-The link for the requirements for “A Road Runs Through It”, our quilt challenge due in May is on the right sidebar. We would love to have a large number of quilts in the Challenge and to display at our Fall Quilt Show.
The meeting ended with another great “Show & Tell” session.
