December Meeting – Christmas Tea Party

We were greeted at the door and invited to find a seat with a Fascinator  hat on the place setting.  We placed this lovely creation by Lorraine on our heads. The meeting began with some business items:

Once again our guild will be sending some money to Quilt Canada to help sponsor the Viewer’s Choice Awards. A motion was put forth and passed.

The London Modern Guild is celebrating their 5th year anniversary on January 12 from 1 – 5 pm.  We are invited to attend at the Boyle Memorial Community Centre at 530 Charlotte St in London.

Kim started her report by welcoming us – the ladies of the Ton –  as Britain’s high society during the late Regency was called.  Kim reminded us about the Jelly Roll Rug class on January 12 from 9 – 4 and there are still spots available.  Kim is also looking for another member to provide a demonstration (about 15 minutes) at the meeting on January 10, 2019. We will be able to sign up for the other workshops in the new year.

Judy reported that we are 92 members strong.

Edith was overwhelmed with the amount of place mats that were brought in.  Great job everyone! Chad shared to whom these place mats will be given.  The place mats are given to those seniors that are alone on Christmas day.  These seniors also receive a gift along with the Christmas meal that is gratis.  Edith shared the quilts from our guild that will be given to the family that is leaving Rotholme.

After the business part of the meeting, the High Tea was served.  Excellent job and thank you to all who were part of the Christmas Tea committee.  The sandwiches were yummy and all the goodies were excellent.  The jam and clotted cream to go with the scones were especially delicious.
The games we played were fun and we learned a lot about High Tea.  Prizes were awarded and we each received a gift.  Thank you so very much.
