This week’s block is named Mr Roosevelt’s Necktie.
Unfortunately, when I made this block, I didn’t realize that the colours were so close together. I’ve played with the contrast in the photos to show the colours a bit better.
Cutting instructions:
Light fabric: cut 8 @ 2 inches x 2 inches
cut 1 @ 2 3/8 x 2 3/8 inches. Cut this square in half on the diagonal.
Dark fabric #1: cut 2 @ 2 inches x 2 inches
cut 2 @ 2 3/8 x 2 3/8 inches. Cut one of these in half on the diagonal
Dark fabric #2: cut 2 @ 2 inches x 2 inches
cut 2 @ 2 3/8 x 2 3/8 inches. Cut one of these in half on the diagonal
Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of the dark #1 2 3/8 inch square. Pair this, right sides together with the dark #2 2 3/8 inch square. Sew a 1/4 inch seam on either side of the drawn line. Cut apart on the drawn line and press to one side.
Pair a light 2 3/8 inch triangle with a dark #1 triangle and with a dark #2 triangle. There will be a triangle left over from each of the dark fabrics.
Sew these together.
The photo of my block was not distinct enough to show the placement of the fabrics, so I’ve used an Electic Quilt 7 drawing instead. Arrange your fabrics as shown in the picture, and sew together.
Go here for the finishing instructions. The large triangles on the outside are light.
