Congratulations Jill Buckley, winner of our CQA/ACC Quilt Ontario 2011 London Logo contest! Jill received a $100 cheque and she will be acknowledged on the CQA/ACC website and call for entry. This logo will appear on flyers, posters, and promotional items for this event!
We asked members of the LFQG, Huron Perth, Thames Valley, and Oxford guilds help in creating a logo for this upcoming quilt event! It was up to the Local Organizing Committee members to choose the best one. We received only 4 entries and yet it was still a very hard decision to make. Each one had very creative ideas on how to express London and quilting. Other than myself, who received the entries, no one on the committee knew who the artists were or from what guild they came from when choosing their favourite.
We asked for all the logos to be in black and white and after we chose the winner, we then, as a committee chose the colours. The logos have been submitted to the CQA/ACC for ultimate approval and then their graphics people will tighten up the design….and yes we will be making a pin from this design!
The LOC would like to thank Linda Robertson, Theodora Rijkhoff and Pauline Hitsman all from the Huron Perth Quilters Guild for their beautiful entries in this contest!
Rose announced the president’s challenge for the May AGM:
Using the theme of London and/or Southwestern Ontario, make a 12 inch square finished block. Any colour, design, or block that reminds you of London or Southwestern Ontario. These blocks will hang together as the guild’s presentation to those that visit the CQA/ACC Quilt Ontario 2011 London event!
It was also announced that the guild has arranged to have Bonnie Hunter of http://www.quiltville.com/ as a guest speaker in September 2012! She will be doing 2 days of workshops! She is the queen of scrap quilts and by the time she visits us she will have had 3 books published.
Thanks to all our members who donated non-perishable food items or toys!
We had a wonderful show and share of christmas decorations and quilts. Here is a photo of 5 completed bags from Brenda’s tote bag workshop:
