Guest Speakers at the Feb. meeting of the London Friendship Quilt Guild were Ken and Virgie of the Wardsville Barn Quilt Trail. Ken presented the history of George Ward and Virgie outlined how the quilt and Barn quilt blocks came about when planning for the 200th anniversary of Wardsville, ON. Plans are underway to expand the Barn quilts along Longwoods Rd commemorating the history of the War of 1812, focusing on war from a woman’s point of view. After the meeting, Ken and Virgie were available to answer questions about the quilt (in background) and hand out information and maps:

During the break, a rummage sale was held of quilting items, books and magazines with proceeds going to the Community Quilts project:

Members were asked to bring 6 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ rectangles for the Quilts of Valour sewing day to be held on March 24th. There will be an opportunity to bring them next month as well.
