July 9th Crossover Meeting

On July 9th, 12 members of the outgoing 2014-15 executive and the incoming 2015-16 executive met at Edith W’s home for the annual crossover meeting.  We enjoyed a great potluck dinner and then held an executive meeting where knowledge and lots of paperwork was exchanged.
Edith gave us a final report regarding our Community Outreach numbers for the year.  A total of 54 quilts, 102 pillowcases, 112 placemats and 5 Quilts of Valour were donated during the 2014-15 year.
Amalia let us know that the membership for the guild stood at 119 at the end of the year.
Membership Registration Forms for the 2015-16 guild year will be available on the blog in early August.

Reminder-There will be a Sew-In-Day on July 25th at the church. This is a free event from 9-4!  Bring your lunch and your own sewing project or Edith will have some Community Outreach projects you can work on.

Kim Z (one of our Librarians) will be at the church on the Sew-in-Day on July 25th organizing the library.  If anyone knows of a high school student who needs volunteer hours and would like to give Kim a hand, contact her at kjzwicker1164@live.ca.

Quilter on Vacation-Incoming President Lorna M. shared a picture taken while on vacation in Vancouver in June with her daughter Valerie. Lorna was at “The Cloth Shop”, a quilt store on Granville Island in Vancouver.

On a personal note-This is my last blog posting as the Blog Editor for LFQG.  I want to thank all of the members of the guild for the support that I have received over the last 2 years.  I have enjoyed this very much and have increased my computer skills a lot!  Cathy S. is taking over as Blog Editor and I know she’ll do a great job.  I hear she has some new ideas to keep the Blog fresh and relevant.
All further inquiries and requests regarding the blog should be sent to Cathy at caleeshepherd@gmail.com.
Thanks so much,
Maureen
