This week’s block is called Windmill. One of many blocks by this name.
Cutting Instructions:
Light fabric #1: cut 2 @ 2 3/8 x 2 3/8 inches square
cut 4 @ 2 inches x 3 1/2 inches
Light fabric #2: cut 2 @ 2 3/8 x 2 3/8 inches square
Dark fabric #1: cut 2 @ 2 3/8 x 2 3/8 inches square
Dark fabric #2: cut 2 @ 2 3/8 x 2 3/8 inches square
Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of each of the light #1 and light #2 2 3/8 x 2 3/8 inch squares.
Pair the two light #1 2 3/8 inch squares with the two dark #1 2 3/8 inch squares. Sew a 1/4 inch seam on either side of the drawn lines. Cut these apart on the drawn lines and press towards the dark. Do the same thing with the two light #2 and the two dark #2 2 3/8 inch squares.
Take the light #2/dark#2 triangle squares and arrange them into a pinwheel as shown below and sew together.
Sew a 2 inch x 3 1/2 inch rectangle on either side of the pinwheel unit. Sew a light#1/dark#1 triangle square on either end of the remaining 2 x 3 1/2 inch rectangles, as shown below.
Sew these to either side of the windmill unit.
Go here for the finishing instructions. The light large triangles are on the outside of this one.
