Guild Meeting September 14, 2017

We had our first meeting of the new year on September 14th. It was great to be able to see and reconnect with everyone. After the opening business with the executive of the guild was finished, we were treated to a trunk show by one of our members, Toni Smith. She specializes in making “pixelated” quilts from comic book and video game characters. She sells her quilts and patterns and also travels to various conventions both quilting and comic book related. What a very cool way to make a living from quilting! Here website is here, Quiltoni

She was not able to bring all of her quilts, since some of them are out visiting at various conventions, but what she did bring were lots of fun to look at. Here she is talking about one of her quilts.

After Toni’s presentation, we had member show and tell. We saw lots of things that were finished by our members over the summer.
Gail showed a baby quilt which is soon to be gifted to a new baby.

Ann showed a beautiful sunset quilt, made complete from triangles. The sunset effect was achieved by colour placement.
Debbie showed a quilt that was finished this summer after aging for quite a few years.
Pat showed a Disappearing Nine Patch made from 10 inch squares. What a great idea for all this layer cake packages we may have laying around.
Linda brought her version of Swoon, made from beautiful soft pastel colours.

Susan showed a Buzz Saw quilt.
Barb brought a stunning appliqué quilt.
