What a great start to our new year! There are 68 returning members and 12 new members as of September 13. Welcome to all!!
Thank you to Lorraine S. who was in charge of the booth at Home County and organized volunteers to help out. This event earned some money for the guild and helped make us visible while we shared our love of quilting.
Edith spoke about the OutReach Community Quilts. There will be an incentive program this year again. When you quilt and bind a quilt you earn a ticket that will be entered into a draw for a $100 gift card. There are currently about 30 quilts that need to be finished.
Cathy S shared how she is stepping down as the head of the Comfort Quilt committee. This committee is under the OutReach Committee. Thank you Cathy for all you have done and we appreciate all your efforts. Bonnie H will be taking over as the head of the Comfort Quilt committee.
Cathy reminded us that the instructions for making the friendship block is on the Blog. Currently we are asked to make two blocks using a dark and light fabric. Bring completed blocks to a meeting and they will be collected by Bonnie.
The Quilt Show committee has been very busy, meeting since January. Mibsie is in charge of the Boutique and we have 5 bins of product to sell. Amazing!! There also will be a treasure box of unused “Good Intentions”. If you have a new pattern, tools, ribbon, and other sewing related “stuff” please bring to the October meeting so it can go into the Treasure Box to sell at the Boutique.
Please bring baked goods to the October meeting. Please use a disposable container.

Our speaker was Bill Stearman billstearman.com
Bill has been quilting for 4 years and while he says he has a BackPack show it really is very very close to being a Trunk Show. He dyes much of the fabric he uses and he has taken many classes to learn this skill. Bill has a sink dyeing system in his back yard that is fabulous. He shared much about his very interesting life and we were enthralled with his many stories. His quilts have been juried into national and international shows across North America. He is going to be a teacher at Quilt Canada 2019 which is being held in Ottawa. Bill creates his quilts using the Double Disappearing 9 patch. Here are a few of his wonderful quilts:
