February 14 meeting – Sonya Nanos

Teresa began our meeting by telling us all the news about quilt stores that are opening or re-opening. The Quilt Kitchen is now open in Exeter, Kalidoscope of Quilts has moved to St. Marys, Stache Fabrics and Notions is now open at 211 King Street, London, Among Brenda’s Quilts has longer store hours and Cornerstones will be reopening too. The Marsh Store has reopened with a new owner. There is a lot to check out… Some of these will be on the Shop Hop starting in July. I will post about that later.

Teresa mentioned that we need a constitution review and membership thought that every 2 years is too often. We will change that…

We need ideas for the location of the next quilt show which will be in 2021. If you have any ideas please email Teresa.

This May we will be electing the executive for the next 2 years. We are looking for a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. We also would like to have someone work with Kim on Program with the idea that this person will continue on as Program Director after next year.

Be sure to check on the left side of the blog for upcoming Quilt Shows and Events. There are two workshops – March 15 is with Valerie Wilson from Manitoba. The workshop is called People in Nature. April 12 is with Mary Elizabeth Kinch and the workshop is called Letting Go as You go with the Flow – and involves string piecing. I have signed up for both and can’t wait. There are openings so if you wish to attend email Kim. kjzwicker1164@live.ca These workshops are a lot of fun and very reasonable.

Someone reported that Metro has a Colour and Dirt Collector. This is helpful when washing your quilts as these cloths soak up dye so your quilt stays pristine.

The business meeting ended and the Rummage Sale began. Many deals were scooped up by the membership. We raised about $300.00 for the OutReach Program. Thank you to those that donated and those that shopped or did both!
